Research notes
air.dev now redirects to jetbrains.com/air/, and Air is a product family rather than only a standalone app: the Air app (standalone desktop client), Air in IDEs (EAP plugin, 'expect rough edges'), Air Teams (organizations, early access), Air Governance, and Air Gateway (renamed JetBrains Central CLI). Junie is now part of Air. Cloud runs roll out gradually to customers. Claude caveat: the chat surface is an SDK integration that cannot use a Claude subscription, so a Pro or Max plan works only through Claude Code in the terminal surface. The docs disagree for the Air app: its quickstart says you can sign in with Claude Pro, Max or Team, while the Supported agents table says Claude Agent needs Anthropic API billing. Air Teams cloud tasks always use JetBrains AI credits, so no own subscription or key applies there. Org-level BYOK requires a paid plan; EAP free Business access has ended. License is Proprietary by inference. Air is closed source and JetBrains publishes no Air-specific license. The general JetBrains User Agreement does not name Air, so it was not used as evidence.
