A native macOS terminal built on Ghostty for working with many coding agents, with notifications, a socket API, SSH workspaces and paid cloud machines.
A terminal-first workflow with agent-aware notifications.
Core features
- Sandboxed runs Partial
cmux Cloud machines are in early access behind a Beta Features setting, and need a paid plan.
Source - Diff review YesSource
- Agent coordination YesSource
- Scheduled tasksNo
Docs site, repo docs, changelog and CLI command tree searched for schedule, cron and recurring. Nothing found; automations fire on app events, not on time.
- Event triggersNo
Docs, event list and changelog searched for webhook, trigger, Slack and GitHub events. Automations react only to cmux's in-process events, and webhooks there are outgoing.
- Team collaboration Partial
Team plans have invites, member roles and team machines, but shared work runs on cmux Cloud, which is in early access.
Source - API / CLI control YesSource

Research notes
License: GitHub's NOASSERTION reflects a split. The client is GPL-3.0-or-later, but web/, workers/ci-artifacts/, workers/iroh-v2/, workers/presence/, services/iroh-relay-minter/ and cmux-tui/relays/cloudflare-do/ are BUSL-1.1, which needs a commercial license for production use, including self-hosting. So the 'free and GPL-licensed' claim covers the client only, and cmux Cloud itself is not self-hostable under open terms. Paid tiers: free accounts cannot create Cloud machines. Subscriptions: CodeRouter is a hosted model router that pools ChatGPT, Claude Max or Pro, and OpenCode Go subscriptions plus OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic and Bedrock keys. Provider traffic goes through CodeRouter's hosted service, not your Mac or VM, which matters for anyone checking provider terms. Locally, cmux just runs agents in terminals using each CLI's own login. Integration is terminal-pty: agents run in terminal panes, with hooks for status and resume. Cloud machines have the agents preinstalled. No CodeRouter-specific price was found.
