Desktop, web and CLI workspace that runs provider agents in threads, with worktrees, agent-to-agent spawning, automations and plugins.
Thread-based work with worktrees, automations and plugins.
Core features
- Sandboxed runs Partial
The official Modal sandbox plugin is labelled Experimental and needs your own Modal account.
Source - Diff review YesSource
- Agent coordination YesSource
- Scheduled tasks YesSource
- Event triggersNo
The core app and official plugins have no webhook or issue trigger, and the GitHub plugin's Send agent is a manual click. A community Discord plugin starts a conversation on a bot mention, but community plugins are not counted.
- Team collaborationNo
README, docs, plugin overviews and the marketplace searched for team, invite, share and multi-user. Nothing found; the Team marketplace plugin is about agent teams, and the bb connect FAQ limits links to you and your paired devices.
- API / CLI control YesSource
Pricing
Free MIT app, and bb connect is documented as free. No paid plan found (getbb.app/pricing is 404). Added machines and third-party sandboxes bill separately.
Platforms
Desktop for macOS Apple Silicon; Linux x64 AppImage and Windows x64 are alpha; Intel Macs via npx. WSL2 supported. Mobile app is a client for a bb server.
Research notes
Judgment call on test 3: the repo tagline is 'The agent IDE that builds itself', but bb brings no model or agent, and its guides cover orchestrating agents and switching from orchestrators. Integration comes from code: plugins/provider-codex has generated codex-app-server bindings, and plugins/provider-claude-code depends on @anthropic-ai/claude-agent-sdk, while its overview says the plugin drives the Claude Code CLI on the host. Keys can be set with bb-app env, for example OPENAI_API_KEY. Remote covers SSH-mapped hosts, Tailscale and bb connect. Sandboxes such as Modal come through plugins and are billed by that vendor, so cloud is not listed. The README warns that the server API is unauthenticated when bound remotely. Telemetry is on by default. The project says workflows and surfaces are still evolving.
